2018 PAPA Bus Tour

The PAPA 2018 Bus Tour and Information Sharing Session is scheduled for July 31 and August 1, 2018. It will be hosted by PennDOT’s Engineering District 11-0. The actual bus tour is Tuesday July 31, with the meeting held in the Wyndham Grand, Pittsburgh Downtown located at 600 Commonwealth Place, Pittsburgh.

Here is a brief description of the planned tour:
SR 279 – Project contains approximately 185,000 tons of asphalt featuring SMA for the wearing course, all tested under PWT-HOLA specifications, and was also the first project in the District to feature Long Life Asphalt Pavement (LLAP) specification.
SR 28 –7-mile-long project featuring various operations including crack and seat and bituminous overlay using Long Life Asphalt Pavement specification for the binder and SMA wearing courses.
I-76 MP 40 to MP 44 – A $90 million PA Turnpike Commission total reconstruction project includes widening of two 12-foot lanes in each direction to three 12-foot lanes in each direction with 12-foot shoulders, featuring 320,000 tons of hot mix asphalt.
SR 65 – Bituminous milling and resurfacing project featuring longitudinal joint incentive/disincentive specification, and all mix tested under the PWT-HOLA specification.
SR 2004 Freedom Crider Road – The project consists of reconstructing Crows Run Road and relocating Freedom Crider Road with over 17,000 tons of asphalt in 2017 and almost 12,000 tons scheduled for 2018.
Lindy Zelienople Asphalt Plant – This location consists of a brand-new plant as well as the Central Lab where all Lindy local acceptance testing is performed by PennDOT staff.
